  • Great article! I’ve been to Patong, Karon and Kata, and your explanations of them are all spot on. My favourite was Kata, as it was reasonably laid back unlike Patong, but still plenty of places to go at night. And the two beaches are both amazing! We went during Songkran, and I had one of the best nights out in my life, so much fun!

  • Wish I saw this article before I went there so I had an idea where to stay but I had a great time in Surin beach which is not included in your article. But we went to Patong just to Checked it. This article helps future travelers.i loved how you made it into simple and easy to decide which beach to visit next time.

  • Thank you very much for the guide! I was really adamant that I’d stay in Pa Tong if were to visit Phuket someday solely because stunning beach views & how beautiful the town is but I did not think about the nightlife at all & I’m kind of introverted who prefers a peaceful, quiet and relaxing holiday. Now I feel like Kamala is perfect for me! 😍

  • I’ve stayed in Kata a couple of times, Karon & Patong. Kata beach is my absolute favourite place in the whole world (and I have travelled quite a bit). Karon is not that far away and hotels tend to be a little cheaper than Kata. Its a good walk or a quick tuk-tuk ride between the two. Patong is exactly as you described it. I probably wouldn’t stay there again as it gets a bit much if you are there for more than a week. Also a tuk-tuk/taxi from Kata/Karon to Patong is worth the fare and quite a pleasant journey.

  • Mate, truly an amazing vlog, I can see why it’s almost got 50k views in less than 2 months!! Although, I’m very surprised you’ve only got just under 7k subscribers, as the vlog was very informative and one of the best I’ve seen on here. This is my first vlog of yours I’ve seen, but I’m looking forward to checking out the rest! I know a lot of people hate it, but with the amount of views you’re getting, you should really be pushing your subs more. I’ve been to Phuket, but way back in 2008, we stayed in Patong and as much as I enjoyed it (mainly Tiger club on Bangla Road), I now wish I’d moved around a little bit, which I’m planning to do on next visit. I’m not sure if you’re based out there full time, but I’m planning to be on Phuket myself in December this year, would be great to catch up and get some advise for stuff to do on the island! Anyway, keep on vlogging brother. 👍

  • Good article, but next time don’t forget to review CHALONG (close to chalong circus / chalong Police) as there are many condo’s and expats there as it is close to the port which takes to you to the nearby islands, the beach and the Big buddha. Also there is Villa Market, Home Pro, starbucks and other shops and restaurants in the cosy mall there (it’s a good one!). I lived 6 months there, it was fun!! 🙂

  • Hi Andrew, I enjoy perusal your website and it helped me a lot with my travels. I have a question about transportation around the island of Phuket. What’s the fare from one place like let say from airport to patong beach? Also, I heard you need to have Bhat money, where did you get your money exchange? My husband and I are planning to visit phuket this July and it’s both our first time. Thank you so much.

  • This will be helpful for those planning their holiday. It is worth noting that the jet ski operators are notorious for scamming those who unwittingly use their services. There have been frequent complaints that the operators will extract large sums for damage that they claim has been done to the jet skis.

  • Hey Andrew, Lovely content and coverage, thanks. Plz can you confirm if in 2004 Tsunami affected Kata Beach ?? I am aware that Patong & Karon were badly hit N devastated. Was planning on staying in Kata, but the thought of so many people loosing thier lives here terrifies me. Hope youll take the time to answer, TIA

  • Karon beach is a flat coast, that’s why not much people there. ( as I seen in your vdo, red flags at Karon beach) I really love Phuket… I visited 3 times in the wet season last year, I visited and stayed in many beaches, they were different feelings. I like Kata, Patong, Kamala and especially, never forget, Rawai beach, there are lots of fresh seafood restaurants there.

  • Our last visit to Phuket was August last year during sandbox. My girlfriend who travelled from Philippines had to quarantine 2 weeks (Philippines was on the red list) prior my my arrival from London. Bang Tao beach was fantastic, we stayed at Saii Laguna and had the beach pretty much to ourselves. We will be back in Phuket in December, this time Patong. Great 📹

  • The article was very good overall but I’m really surprised that you left Paradise Beach off the list. I realize of course that the article is about the best “areas to stay” and not the best beaches, and I further realize that there are no hotels on Paradise Beach. But since Paradise Beach is located at the southern end of Patong Bay and therefore is technically part of the Patong area you could have mentioned it as one of the things to do when staying in Patong. Also, there are now several very nice large hotels right near Tri-Trang beach, and Paradise Beach is just over the hill from these – although you really need to rent a motorbike to get around if staying in this remote little area. By the way, Paradise actually used to be my favorite beach in Phuket. Of course, people wanting to see it should be aware that a few weeks ago they just jacked up the entrance fee from 100baht to 200baht per person which is kind of a rip-off. \r \r Also, I noticed that you mentioned that you can snorkel at Patong Beach but you failed to mention the fact that there would be absolutely no point in snorkeling off that beach. First of all there is nothing to see there but sand. And secondly there is so much speed-boat and jet ski traffic that it would be WAY to dangerous to try to snorkel there. Speaking of snorkeling/free-diving, one of the best reefs for this in Phuket is the one off the northern end of Kata Beach and yet you did not mention this fact at all. It’s very popular with both Scuba divers and Free divers.

  • Currently visiting Bang Tao beach. To my great dismay and disappointment, there is a waste water treatment plant which empties right into the beach. This may explain the fetid stench one often encounters walking around the general area. How can you produce a article about the best beaches in Thailand and not mention the waste water being dumped into the sea at Bang Tao and other places?

  • Thanks for the great blog guys very informative I’d already chosen kamala beach as my place to stay when I visit in Sept so was really interested but what made the article even more special was your accommodation its the place I’ve booked so that’s an added bonus I can’t wait and I’ll now subscribe to you guys thanks.

  • Another great article, so informative and acknowledging that your viewers may have different tastes than your own. Funny that Probably Lost was there with you! Fun times and place to catch up! I have to admit that this is the Thai lifestyle that I have been expecting all along, and that I can foresee that spending a month (or two or three) would be something very easy to do. Available water sports, swimming (good mention on the water temps being high) would all be experienced as and when needed. Cheers you two and the New Years Water Fight!

  • I really look forward to Saturdays and getting one of your new articles! I truly laughed out loud about not sharing the snacks! 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 That New Year’s celebration looked like so much fun! 💦💦💦 What a gorgeous place you’re staying at! 😍. Can’t wait to see your end of the month expense report to find out how much the place cost. Already looking forward to next week’s adventures.

  • Hi Brian and Carrie. We used your Thailand articles to plan out our 7 week itinerary there. Amazing and great content. We did Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket and Ko Samui. Followed your itinerary. Stayed in Kamala beach and totally loved this area. Not crazy busy but still lots to do and Eat. Also thank you for the Maya Bay tour company recommendation (Simba Sea Trips). Unreal customer service. We had an awesome time. We had a lot of Two Thirsty moments as well lol. Now on to educating ourselves using your Europe travel articles. Starting to plan out our next travel leg! Keep up the great work. Mark and Lori

  • We loved karon beach. We found a mom and pop restaurant/beach bar that was so fun. it was down at the very end so that is why you probably missed it. Love your articles. Your articles are a big part of why we made the decision to sell our home and do what you are doing! Thanks so much for giving us the confidence and that final push to go for it!!

  • Thanks for reviewing a few beaches and showing an array of different vibes- definitely something that is harder to pick up on when just reading about a location or reading reviews. I also follow Probably Lost- did you plan to run into each other? Your snack war …I totally relate my husband can polish off a whole order before I get in more than a few bites! But to be fair- he probably experiences the same thing if we are sharing a coffee or CamelBak 🙂

  • I’m 54. But, Patong is still my go to beach ‘cos it’s just so central to everything. You can find plenty of hotels at each end of the beach if you wanna be away from all the night scene and crowds. Some fantastic bars and restaurants up in the mountain overlooking Patong, too. Sunsets from there are spectacular. I typically stay 9-14 days each trip. I’ll start in Patong. Love the music scene there. A few rock/metal bars. Then a few days on the other side of Phuket. More resorts, a bit more chill. Then back to Patong for a big finish.

  • Hi from WA! We are so appreciating following your journey and hope to do something similar ASAP. Question for y’all! How are you finding your lodging in each new location? AirBnB seems to be the easiest platform but also seems like it might be way more expensive than localized websites which might be more of a headache to find/use?

  • Hello Brian and Carrie, I love your articles. I’m from Florida but have lived in Dubai for the past 16 years. I’m 44 years of age and semi-retired. Still have an 18 and a 16 year old son and daughter whom I’m taking care of until the time comes for them to fly like birds. My son is moving back to Florida next year, 2 years later will be my daughter. After that, my wife and I are planning on traveling the world with the mentality of living in areas like the ones you guys visit for long periods of time. Anyways, thank you for the recommendation about where to stay in Phuket. I just booked a stay at Wabi Sabi Hotel in Kamala Beach. I’m taking my son as a thank you for being awesome with the way he conducted in school. You guys rock!

  • Thank you Brian and Carrie, this article has helped me so much. I too want to stay at a place with bars and restaurants on the beach and have my feet on the sand. You mentioned there were 3 big resorts on the Kamala beach. Do you remember the resorts names? I am pretty sure one of them is Hyatt, keen to find out the names of the other two. Which of the three resorts would you want to stay? I want to be able to easily walk from the hotel pool to the beach. My first time travelling OS since the pandemic and I want to decompress big time.

  • We stayed at Kata Beach in 2014 as 2 adults and did not bring children. We stayed at the Sawasadee Village which was wonderful, but our stay was less than a week. I believe we had to grab beers from the 7-11 for the beach. We noticed there were a lot of Russian tourists and all the menus were in Thai, Russian, and then English. Kata was fun, but now I want to try Kamala Beach! We also went during Songkran, but we were in Bangkok where a fire truck even joined in by lightly spraying the crowd. They also decorated elephants and sold baskets of vegetables so you could feed them. So much fun! Are they still smearing the cooling paste? I think there was menthol in the mix — surprisingly refreshing!

  • Great vid. Actually decided on Kamala and the same hotel you stayed at. Do you know if they have 24hr front desk. Website says it does but haven’t been able to get a hold of them to confirm because I arrive super late like 1am. Also does the restaurants stay open pretty late on the beach? And were there lots of options to eat close to your hotel? Thank you!!!

  • Hey guys… I am perusal your article on the television. This year was the first time I ever went to Thailand but I actually stayed in Udon Thani up north close to the border of Laos. I was in Thailand for 3 months. My lady friend and I would like to go to Pattaya and Phuket. I was happy to see that you were there in Thailand at the exact same time as I was because I got to experience the Songkran festival. I experienced riding through Udon Thani and getting hosed repeatedly with ice cold water and people shooting water guns at us. I laughed at you Brian when you got shot in the face…I was like yup…I know the feeling. By the way thank you for both of y’all for your beautifully made article. I like the way that you broke down all the different beaches. Good job! I loved it❤

  • Hi Brian & Carrie Thanks for the advice We’re touring Thailand and both of a similar age to you Great recommendations, especially the Wasi Sabi at Kamala Beach….. amazing value and executive rooms a steal at £35 a night In Phi Phi now but off to Fisherman’s Wharf Koh Samui tomorrow Thanks once again Steve & Louise

  • You’ve certainly found the best beach. Kata Noi, a 20-minute walk over the hill from Kata, in the opposite direction to Karon, has a very good Beach Bar called the Blue Shark, but as I said Kamala is best. Let’s not tell too many people about it though as there won’t be any accommodation for us! Glad you left out the best beach bar, too. You’re also right about the 3-4 high end resorts at the end of the beach for those with a bit more cash. all four beaches are shallow, calm, with clear water and sand underfoot, so ideal for young children, under supervision of course.

  • Hello sir, I’m from India. After perusal your lovely article I’ve fallen in love with Kamala beach. I’ll be staying at wabi sabi boutique hotel, kamala from 8th of November to 18th this year. Could you please help me with the information about the nearest bus stop close to the hotel ? Thanks in advance

  • I wonder if your a solo tourist how safe are your valuables left on beach at a beach chair paid for while you go for a swim or surf I dont want to come back and find my phone and wallet money stolen do the locals beach club operators look after you with this or do you have to keep an eye on your bag and stuff
