I couldn’t put this book down. The author did a great job of leading readers to the big reveal at the end. I knew who killed Kelly, but how it happened was entertaining. I won’t say more because it’d give away too much! Adam and Sarah both caused problems in their marriage. They didn’t talk much. The writing was a little rough in some places because the author used four-letter words unnecessarily. I understand those words are for the character or situation, but they felt unnecessary. The ending was satisfying. I’d recommend this book to anyone who likes murder mysteries. I want to read more books by this author! Thank you, Net Galley and Dreamscape Media, for this audiobook. I’ll review it honestly. Adam is married to Sarah, but thinks she’s too busy for him. He finds someone else to be with. Kelly is also married. But Adam is lucky because Kelly doesn’t live in their hometown. She lives where they own a vacation house. It was perfect for him until Kelly died. Then his wife becomes his lawyer. If I were Sarah, I’d find a new lawyer. Cheat on me, and I’d never help you. I thought everyone was a suspect because the town was sketchy. I also think the book could have been better at leading up to the crime and collecting evidence to figure out who did it. There was barely any of the crime itself. He has an affair with Kelly, who is married to an abusive cop. Adam comes back from the lakehouse and decides to leave Sarah until she’s ready for a baby. But then things change. Adam is accused of killing his mistress, and Sarah is his lawyer. We learn the mistress was pregnant. The sheriff was very suspicious. He was nice to Sarah one minute and mean the next. I was trying to figure out who killed Kelly. Was it her husband or Adam? Anne, Sarah’s assistant, took photos of Adam cheating but didn’t tell Sarah. Then there’s Bob, Kelly’s first husband’s brother. They got the third DNA from Kelly’s autopsy. It was the sheriff. 11 years later, Adam is about to be executed. Sarah visits him for the last time. Sarah and Bob killed Kelly and framed Adam. I didn’t see that coming. The characters were shallow and not very likeable. I still recommend it if you can get past that.
