I was a Minister at a Church here in Houston and when he came to speak at the church, he sent his armor barrier to let me know he had a “word from the Lord for me” that he wanted to give me after he relaxed in his hotel room ( this was in 2010)…. This is the same conversation I just had with my aunt. I told her the hypocrisy in the church is mind blowing and this is why we can’t reach any one for the Lord. When some thing in the church happens it’s oh they had a moment of weakness, the devil made them do it, but when it’s some one out side of the church, they’re bound for hell. So the same devil that made the pastor do it isn’t the same devil that made the sinner do it?
Yessss!!! Im enjoying this series! I remember first seeing a young Jamal preach at Bethel AME when I was a child in the 90s. My grandmother took me each Sunday to hear Pastor Reid’s sermons. Jamal always had an air of charisma about him but who knew he would he would take it this far😩😂 Empowerment Temple used to look like a club let out each Sunday in NW Baltimore! He was definitely the talk of Baltimore.

Im from Baltimore and I know of his history through mutual ministers when they were younger (late 1980s). I witnessed most of this MESS UNFOLD in his life and now almost 30+yrs later, he has “refined his foolishness” At first when I came across this article I thought, “Goodness, what has he done now?!” (Problematic-self). I’ve been walking with God at five years now and through his word I am learning how to face and overcome my fears and the power of the enemy and negative thinking.

It so hurtful, to see a pastor spiraling out of control. I used to follow TD Jakes until my spirit says move on. I was a church member of Empowerment Temple, he didn’t tell his members for months he was leaving we heard through the grapevine, then I became a member of New Birth, his whole ideology changed to fit the members of Atlanta. He will marry Karri to calm the rumors.
I have never laughed so hard on this tea…However, sadly I no longer attend church because church ain’t churching as it once was long ago. Unfortunately, he is preaching to the itching ears crowd, “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” The people who attend his church do so because they are not interested in living transformed, holy lives. The goal is to grow church membership numbers for these people. That’s all. Not salvation. Not being set apart. It’s simply to grow numbers.

These are messengers of God who are not perfect. Like, there are no perfect pastors. And when a mistake is made we Christians shame, condemn and run our mouths as if our own lives are perfect. Get to know Jesus for real. This grace and the same mercy he always extends to us we ought to be extended it to leaders. Leave folks alone and work on your relationship with Jesus
You’re absolutely correct about Africans questioning why Americans don’t finish high school. End of highschool results for the 2023 class were announced today . Not finishing high school is something very embarrassing and is almost economic unaliv’ing yourself. Heck for many us it’s just the first step towards higher education.

I grew up in the church; I was reborn in the church, studied the doctrine and followed it. I’m in my mid-50s now and I don’t know the last time I’ve been. I look at the comments here. So many disparaging remarks. I’ve grown to the point that I accept that religion has its place but falls short many times in helping people connect spiritually. Too many of us (me included) get caught up in the messenger/pastors and they become like gods to us. I’ve learned to rely on my spiritual connection with Most High. These are mere men! They will fail and they will fall just as it was meant to be, just like the rest of us. I enjoy perusal The Preacher. I’d rather watch them than Wendy, The Talk, The View, etc. because they give a perspective that I can relate to. I’m sorry to here of the pastor’s downfall. I’m careful not to judge these things so harshly because none of us know where our next temptations lies.
