CM:BB could have been good. Ironically it would have been better if they strided further from the original CM formula and made it its own thing. Unfortunately it would require a lot more time, money, and interest from the writers to be done right. The premise of an FBI international unit investigating crimes involving Americans abroad could be an interesting book or TV series though.
I am surprised “The Family “, and Blind Justice didn’t make the list. Especially The Family. Which is a show about a family trying to find their missing son. Blind Justice is about a blind homicide cop. It’s so ridiculous that I use to love the show. All the characters look like they walk out of G.Q magazine, or vogue. The music, and scenes look like a music article. 😁
I thought the new ironside wasn’t too bad. Oh and BTW, Raymond Burr the original Ironside also wasn’t a paraplegic but never got heat for it like Blair Underwood did. So if that’s the case why wasn’t Charlie Cox getting hate for not being blind in Daredevil? seriously people stop making mountains out of NOTHING
Cop Rock would have been a success if only Stewart P. Lynch – an expert on musical theatre and a composer and lyricist whose songs make him a bit emotional at times – came up with the idea before Bochco did. If Lynch had created this show, he would center the story and the musical numbers around a buddy-buddy pair of cops and he would regard it as a family comedy show rather than a gritty cop drama.
Most of these shows were canceled before anyone knew they aired. Especially Charlie’s angels. Leave the 70’s show in the 70’s. Stalker was good. However it was Definitely fearmongering. It had me paranoid. Ironside should have been left in 60’s. It doesn’t work today. Cop rock was a hoot! 😂 I liked it for the campyness, and the music. Damien very first episode was good, than it went downhill from there.
That viva Loughlin thing was based on a U.K. show called Blackpool, from the early 2000s I think – David tennant was in it and not the main guy from Life on Mars (U.K. version – obvs not the US version lol – you guys nailed the office but your version of life on mars was terrible!) – the guy who’s in s3 of walking dead, the dude who can’t break into jail but rick can and then they fight. Or something. I can’t remember. Anyway, so that dude and David tennant are in Blackpool – original of viva loughlin and its AMAZING. Just such a good one off 4 or 6 parter – again, can’t remember how long it is. It was on YouTube for a bit, but only with a small picture. But if you can find it, it’s amazing. Again – BLACKPOOL.
The new Charlies Angels show was a disaster… Yes. That actress did have a reason to complain when one of the crew patted her behind with one hand while he held up a hundred dollar bill with the other hand. He was fired for “Sexual Harassment”. Me personally I was hoping the show would last long enough to do the “Bikini/Pole Dancer/Strip Club/ ” ratings booster episodes… Then reading about her Temperamental Outburst on the set when she learned she’d be ” In a thong bikini with grunting leering guys chasing after her” for the entire sweeps week episode. I’m being serious here… In its last season the original Charles Angels became a bikini series in an attempt to pull in male viewers. The new series didn’t last that long.
What about, “Do No Harm?!” NBC spent weeks promoting it as their next big thing. They aired one episode and then it disappeared. I think that by the time the show finally aired ppl were just tired of the hype and sick of hearing about it. Then there was “Forever.” At least that show made it past one episode. Nevertheless, it too was canceled.
Yeah, well, the Raymond Burr version of Ironside was pretty unpleasant at times (Burr was even harder to relate to as Ironside than he ever was as Perry Mason), and, of course, Burr himself wasn’t crippled either. So, I always thought THAT criticism about the new show was kind of disingenuous. Bad scripts and bad characterizations, of course, are universal. The Colbys never worked either, but then it didn’t get REALLY stupid until Fake Fallon got captured by a UFO, and the producers forgot about that when the characters returned to Dynasty (which, in Britain, is pronounced to rhyme with Dysentery). And to the end of his life, Steven Bochco praised Cop Rock. So, what can you do….
I consider myself a writer, but what I really am is a TERRIBLE writer. Unfortunately other terrible writer’s don’t realize that, have some luck meeting producer’s, get high with them or screw them and this stuff gets made. It’s TERRIBLE that actors have to eat and get drug into this awful stuff. The poor actor’s–they are the one’s that suffer. AND BTW–“70’s “Charlie’s Angel’s” was not a classic, it was tripe and anyone with an IQ over 110 thought it was junk.
@watchmojo, so Ironside gets heavily critized because the main actor is not actually disabled, how does that logic works with other shows and movies like Ray, a beautiful mind, hell, even any movie, because in any movie any actor is not actually what they are showing, thats why they are actors, to pretend to be someone and doin it well, doesnt makes sense to critize or focus the failurr of the show on that particular aspect.
As a woman with visual impairments kindly STOP telling us what we should be “offended” by. I have nothing against Charlie Cox as Daredevil and I don’t like when you tell me I should be “offended” if an able bodied person plays a disabled character. It’s called acting. If we keep restricting roles to only people who fit a certain criteria, many films will never get made. I hated the stupid complaints about a “real” mute should have been in Shape of water and I hate it now. Stop- telling- us- what- to- hate. YOU offend us when you do that!
One of these days, people will use xenophobia accurately. Phobia = fear. Saying a country is a hellhole is not the same as saying they’re scared of a country. And it’s not like it’s not accurate. How many people would want to take a vacation to Iran or North Korea? It’s the same with homophobia, what most people say is not the same thing as what that word actually means.
The attempt to revise Charlie’s Angels was a disaster right from the very beginning. In the original, they were three women who was in the police academy and got a bum deal where Charlie took them away from that and hired them on as his private detectives whereas the remake portrayed three women that got into trouble with the law to be subjected to work for a detective agency. Then you have Ironside, look, that was the one show that should have been left alone period because you can put a white pretty boy or girl in the wheel chair and call it Ironside and its going to flop big time because you can’t duplicate nor repackage that classic masterpiece because Perry Mason was the man.
Anybody else getting tired of how ppl get pissed of with actor choices? “Oh they pick a non disabled man to play disabled” “oh they pick a straight man to play a queer character” like i can understand if they change the character’s race or gender, but damn ppl just keep crying. Pretty soon people will start bitching “oh wow they chose an actor to play a teacher, they’re taking away acting roles from teachers” so what? stop complaining damn

My dad married my stepmom when i was 5 years old. She is now 80 years old and this has always been her favorite song and every time i listen to it I can’t help but think of her and all she did raising me. I am now 57 and call her all the time to thank her about a wonderful job she did raising me and my brother and sister. Thanks mom…..you can never be replaced!
Born in n 1966, this is the music from an era of real music. My heart cries when I try to tell my children that they should enjoy life sing and laugh. Today kids are getting more and more lost. This social media is destroying them, taking them away from real friendships, they think they are socializing…but that technology is isolating not bringing people and communities together. Its vey sad. My bit of advice is anyone young is listening…smile, wave, laugh and love. Don’t leave it too late, you only get one chance at life.
This song is fascinating when you really put your ear to it. The rhythm carries the melody throughout the entire song. Yet it’s never repetitive or overbearing. There’s a lot going on within the instrumentation as well as the vocal performances in every section of the song. No part is exactly the same. Everything in this song just seems to totally click. Great composition and recording. It’s a masterpiece of our timeless BLACK musical talent and cultures contribution to HUMANITY!
That Song it’s so great and beautiful, I started listening it a couple of months ago and their melody it’s a charming to my mind. And I feel very emotional Everytime i listen it, daily. Than you Mister Tavares for your melodious voice and the dancing choreography and voices of that great chores of those 4 Men that are accompanying you with their chores and the dancing too. All of that looks so wonderful to my eyes and heard.
This is a perfect example of when Singers/bands/groups used to have talent. Just look at the pride they took in their appearance, choreography, and overall stage presence, not to mention you can actually understand the lyrics. Just an example of the amazing talents that were all over the place in the 70’s, I am so lucky to have grown up in that era, and young people now days will never realize what they missed.. (Can i get an AMEN)…. hahaha
This article represents one of the most significant disco hits of my adolesce! I even recall whom this song made me think about… I even thought I had fallen in love, since “Heaven” from my point of view, was actually missing a gorgeous angel, 10 years my senior, living across the corner in my Rio de Janeiro neighborhood… 😍 Rua Itabanhana…
As a 14 year old boy living in the dutch countryside I was amazed at their costumes and their dancesteps. I wanted to dance to this music and what a very romantic idea that Heaven was missing one of their angels who returned to earth for romance. The song always makes me happy. Thank you Tavares brothers for all this joy!
Born in 1994, since I was a kid my heart connected to old school music. 60’s,70’s,80’s that was REAL music with REAL meaning. I feel like back in the day life was more colourful and beautiful, people just wanted to laugh and dance. Now a days almost every song is about popping pills and lyrics that don’t make any sense… I feel sorry for the younger generation, there really not living there life. Just always on there phone and posting there life away instead of actually living it.
They looked and performed exactly as you watch them here during concerts, probably some of the handsomest, charming, down to earth guys in music. So charming, you didn’t leave your girl alone while they performed. They would all later go into the crowd post show to thank everyone personally one by one. Unusually humble guys who could really sing.
Perhaps one of the greatest songs and musical arrangements of all -time. I listened to this in the magical time of 1976 when the UK charts had a mix of pop classics. Back in 2009 I saw Tavares at the Liverpool Echo arena and their sound and vocals were top class singing live. One notable memory was casting an eye around the audience that night, and seeing so many young people probably not born in either the 70s or 80s. and on their feet dancing to this song. Which is the greatest tribute to the group. This song seems to electrify any party or concert .
Do you ever close your eyes, and see your life 40 years ago, young and youthful, and just innocently enjoying dancing and having the best time in your life!? I can’t believe that all these amount of years have passed me so quickly. But the blessing is, that I can play this song, and live it in my mind! Thankfully, no one can take that away from me!🙏🙏🙏 ❤❤❤
Tavares Brothers had it all…..energy, harmony, beat, dance moves, love for each other. And fantastic. Sounds…… if you are here perusal then you realize that too. Like Patti LaBelle said ” “There are those that can sing, those that THINK they can sing, and then there are those that…. ..well,…..just Shut up and listen!” That’s Tavares……just listen and let them take you to a happier. Brighter place! 🎶💕🎶
I am a Hispanic Man and an American Citizen at the same time, and when i listened this Song for the first time in the you tube website, i can confess to you all the listener of this song that i was feeling great 😂 and very emotionally happy really. Tavares and his group are very Talented. Thi’s as hilarious to me.
Saw this group live in 1976 and got the lead singers autograph, after staring at him for what seemed like forever, too afraid to approach because there were two glamorous ladies draped over each of his shoulders, one spoke into his ear and he beckoned me for my pen and paper and signed it for me. It said stay sweet Chubby Travares. 😊
I love perusal performers from the 70s. I wasn’t born then but I love how the lack of tech at the time means you cannot hide behind anything. Everything is real, vocals, music, dancing It’s so pure and I love electronic music but there’s something so enchanting about this time 💚 Edit: plus (and obviously), THE OUTFITS
I remember like yesterday the day when the band came to the TOPPOP studio to perform their fantastic song. They were the last band performing that day and we had to leave the studio at 5.30 p.m. because another show had to use it. So we taped it one time, wishing to improve it we wanted to do another taping of the same. But the record company asked us to tape their next release – “Don’t take away the music”. I’ve never heard the song before, we had just 10 minutes more(or less) of time to use the studio. I sad: Let’s do it! Why not?! And we did it……unfortunately the results are far from perfect, but may be you forget it, listening to this FANTASTIC SONG!
