The roasting of Bob Saget, with the sexual jokes, and everyone laughing in the audience is despicable. Sexual jokes with regard to underage children is NEVER okay. Everyone in that audience needs a backbone along with some morals to stand up for what’s right, and not go along with such gross narrative.
It never ceases to amaze me how rampant inappropriate behavior with minors has been in Hollywood for so long. And they just paraded it in front of everyone’s faces too. How did anyone ever think this was okay?? I feel so bad for the Olsens and all child stars who have to deal with these things. I’m glad they’re out of that world now.
I was one of the children that absolutely adored the Mary Kate & Ashley “brand” so to speak. Every VHS they released, my mom bought. Every bit of merchandise my mom could afford, she got for me. Now that I’m an adult in my mid-20s, it’s horrifying to see the cost of what that brand actually was. Yes, they took control of their own brand and empire, but they lost their entire childhood to creeps and adults preying on them. What a mess.
Everything presented in this article is exactly why I wasn’t mad at them for deciding not to come back to the Fuller House reunion. They deserve peace, and to live their life exactly the way they are doing now. They deserved to be in control for once. As a little kid, my sister and I had some scout from Disney approach us when we were on vacation in LA shopping on Melrose ave and asked us to do an audition. I never knew twins were so desirable and why and I was always mad my dad turned them down thinking we could have been Disney stars lol. Thank god he did, that sounds like a miserable and traumatic way to grow up!!
If your child is on set, as a parent it is your duty to be wherever you child is. If you can’t do that, if the studio won’t let you do that, then you walk away from the show. Also I love how the mom likes to stay out of the public eye. What about what her daughters wanted? Clearly they didn’t enjoy being in the public eye. What about them? And the dad is just going on and on about money. Maybe focus on your daughters’ well-being.
Haven’t finished the article yet but, I remeber going to watch the first episode of full house and there’s a scene where after Jesse finished changing Michelle he says “I was changing Michelle but started to get a tingly feeling” and then Joey steps in and says “that’s when I took Michelle from him” I never watched another episode of it again.
I mean, when one of them ended up having anorexia and the other depressive, it kinda says a lot about what they went through… and when you look at it, the amount of child actors in the 90s and 2000s who turned out having REAL bad lifestyles (drug abuse, alcoholism, violence, etc), these are always symptoms of something really big that happened “behind the scenes” in Hollywood itself.
The mom is a manipulative liar. She called walking into an agency with photos “a fluke.” Then when they got a call to audition she said “I had no idea they were producers.” Where else would a talent agent send you? And it’s clear she put that lie into their heads bc the girls bought the story bc they repeated it in interviews.
I simply cannot believe that Bob Saget’s behavior was encouraged and recieved as a joke on the twins behalf… the fact that no one will ever really know what happened, not even the twins themselves… what a nightmare, to know you were most likely abused and yet can’t prove it… or disprove it. I had no idea about all this. It’s so sad that they had to live through the horrific things. I’ve been perusal this since I was kid. What Bob Saget did was disgusting and the fact that they sat there laughing about is truly sickening as if it was some joke. I’m glad that they’re doing what they love doing now. I’ve seen so many of these celebrities come out decades later about what actually happened in the industry. It’s truly heartbreaking to see any person go through this stuff.
OF COURSE Stamos talks about the babies as UNATTRACTIVE. A physical, beauty descriptor; NOT fussy or inexperienced or uncooperative or small or chubby or ANY other words people might use when describing a child/baby. UNATTRACTIVE. It’s so ingrained in the Hollywood mentality to describe people in relation to beauty and SEX APPEAL. Speaks volumes.
The fact that they can’t even get the story straight as to how they got into “show business” 🙄🙄 John Stamos tried to get the girls fired as babies because they wouldn’t stop crying but that lady said they were the calmest babies she’d ever worked with on set 🤨 So many inconsistencies. You gotta wonder who is being honest about stuff if anyone.
My God daughter is a very beautiful, bright and smart little girl. We can’t go anywhere without people coming up to us and saying how cute she is. With that being said I signed her up for modeling and everything was going great she got quite a few modeling gigs, then she ended up getting an opportunity with a very large well known brand. When I took her to her first meetup the woman who was assisting us told me I can stay in the room while they took her to another room with other workers who were going to get her dressed for a few different photos. I told the woman I would prefer to come with her seeing that this was her first time being in this place and she didn’t know anyone. The woman refused and gave me long sob excuses of it causes distractions. I said ok and set in the room. It was something in my spirit that just didn’t sit right with me. The thought of strangers undressing my daughter and I couldn’t be in there to observe anything. Who knows what could’ve happened. We all hear about the crazy, weird, perverted things that happens in the Industry. After about 10 mins of sitting in the room I went and asked them to bring my daughter out, we were leaving. The lady was so upset and annoyed with me. I didn’t care. I turned down one of the biggest opportunities we will probably ever have, but no amount of money is worth something happening to my daughter.
The parents both saying it was a “fluke” really sounds like their way to wipe their hands of all the fucked up shit that went down. I just find it odd that the mom was seemingly so reluctant yet Idk anyone who just happened to take their babies to a talent agent? You’re told you can’t be around them in their most formative years but you still allow it? There’s just no way that you can be both reluctant to them becoming successful actors and oblivious to the exploitation. Especially how much they worked. No, I think they created that story to seem like down to earth parents that weren’t after the money. Bob Saget’s roast was absolutely disgusting. It’s supposed to be a roast on Bob, why the fuck were they making jokes sexualizing minors when MK and Ashley had no part in the roast? So gross. Thanks for another great deep dive! The most disturbing comment was Jeff Garlin saying, “Ashley swallows.” How grotesque to grow up with men who make inappropriate comments like that about you and then have it plastered in the media for everyone to watch. Incredibly objectifying. Incredibly humiliating. I feel so bad that they had to go through that.
How do people sit back and LAUGH at sexual jokes about Kids?? Yet it’s always called a conspiracy theory when rumors about abuse to children from the Hollywood elite surface. Its really weird that like. It was obvious that 22 year old actor was NOT comfortable kissing a minor, and the girls were equally uncomfortable about it but everyone just made them all do it anyway. They even lied to the girls about his age, and made the guy lie to them as well??? He and the girls shouldnt have even BEEN in that situation its disgusting.

I almost feel bad that I didn’t feel bad when Bob Saget passed. I couldn’t even read a headline of celebrities making statements of what a great guy he was and how funny he was. He was a vile man! His comedy was always disgusting. I get some people only knew him from Full House and America’s Funniest Home articles but all these celebrities knew what he was like.
Question: If a 22 year old man came onto school grounds and was caught kissing a 14 year old girl, would the police be called immediately? Why was the same behaviour condoned in a workplace, under the guise of making a “movie” and police were not called immediately to arrest all of the adults on set?
Child labor laws may have changed, but twins have been used for single roles – like Tabitha on Bewitched and Carrie on Little House on the Prairie – for years. Here’s an interesting tidbit about the Murphy twins of Bewitched. Erin, who eventually took the role herself, loved being on the set, while Diane hated it. When it was time to “switch” the twins, they would often just bring Erin off the set and bring her back on immediately after, pretending they were bringing Diane on. Also, Erin and Diane were noticeably different in appearance, and Diane was often used only for distance and back shots. ETA: The rubber doll story and those jokes were sick, but I’m glad Bob cared enough to change a dirty diaper, rather than leave the poor child in that messy, uncomfortable situation. There’s no reason why men can’t change diapers. I really don’t think Bob was trying to be lewd or inappropriate in this case; he was genuinely trying to make the child more comfortable.
Stories such as this often explain why Miley Cyrus, Mary-Kate and Ashley, Lindsey lohan, Brittney Spears (and her sister Jamie lynn Spears), and many other child stars (or even child celebs, go off the deep end (look at what happened to Macaulay Culkin after he filmed the first 2 Home Alone films and Mara Wilson, but at least now those two are in a much better place now). And not to mention Jeanette McCurdy.
I did not like how fuller house made a joke about Michelle not being there and how she was a big Fashion designer now in New York. A huge dig at the twins not wanting back on the show. I see why they did not go back but to make a joke at their expensive over it and the audience laughing at it was sick in my view. The joke was very bad taste.
That Regis and Cathy Lee interview was awful. “What kind of man do you like” UM HELLO, they’re 12?! They don’t like men, they don’t even like boys at that age, they like dolls and nail polish…. what the heck?! That was beyond creepy, I’m mind blown that this was ever culturally acceptable and I’m ashamed I ignored this for so many years.
I somehow did not realize the Olsen Twins signed Cole and Dylan Sprouse how cool! I really appreciate that Mary-Kate and Ashley got to fully take over their company 100% once they turned 18. I feel like a lot of child stars don’t get that sort of say over their work when they become adults. Which is sad. I really hope more child stars get to start taking over their brand properly when they turn 18. Thats a big thing that needs to happen.

When I was little I waited in a line for hours to see the Olsen twins. I loved their movies and was so excited. They were just sitting on these wooden cubes behind a velvet rope and the line of people were just allowed to walk through and look at them. It was really weird and is still such a strange memory.
It’s crazy how bob knows what he did on set with that doll was wrong and inappropriate and makes that clear while talking about it, but he still finds it funny and tells the story over and over like it was a good joke? I had no idea the context for Holiday in the Sun… I loved that movie as a kid. That footage was hard to watch.. so wrong. The nervous giddiness from the guy actor.. him saying she was such a good kisser 🤢 And the Regis interview?! Makes my skin crawl. Another amazing and NEEDED article from Deep Dive! One of the things I saw in an interview with some of the original cast was both Candace Cameron and Jodie sweetin talking about the Olsen twins when they got upset and didn’t want to do a scene anymore they would start saying “I’m gonna sing. If you don’t stop I’m gonna sing” which sounds kind of funny but when you think about it that’s like the only way that they had to get control over their lives
Watching Regis oogling over them and asking them what kind of men they liked, when they are 10, is extremely creepy. The crowd I mainly run with stabs weirdo’s like these guys. This is disturbing that society seems to accept this kind of thing… But you get locked up for years if you use a substance that isn’t approved of for personal use. Complete insanity.
Honestly, I’m kinda glad they went thru all of that together. We’ve seen celebrities before loosing their sanity bc of the dark place that is hollywood, but having someone else that understands you and can share your problems with must be really rare but comforting (it’s not healthy either way but having one person you can trust in such a nightmare must be relieving)
Entertainment is as sick and evil as you think. How these two children even survived 18 years is a miracle. I hope they find some peace and love that is genuine. The world had better find better role models with better values, or just blow up your tv, throw away your paper, eat a lot of peaches and build a home. As a diehard Olsen stan, this was awesome. I do think their “allowance” comments were just pandering to not appear spoiled. by the time they were teenagers they were absolutely spending their big bucks on fashion, as👏 they 👏 should👏 … I find it most appalling that’s all they were ever asked about— money and boys/kissing. Regis and Oprah are so gross, the king and queen of tv interviews couldn’t just ask about movies they made? How was sea world, what’s ur fav animal, etc. Only thing worse was Oprah grilling them about what size they wore.

As a mom I would still be in the building just out of sight so when she’s done acting I can take care of my children. You know, as a grown adult it is your responsibility to be an example around kids. I heard an interview once where one of them said they made crude jokes in front of the kids often on set and their mom’s would get upset. How can you hold this baby in your arms and then make a nasty joke like that? Any real man would know that the comment and behavior would have an impact on these girls. Whether he wanted to admit it or not, he had to be some sort of a father figure to these girls. How traumatic and humiliating to hear him say that, “Ashley swallows.”. How violating and disgusting. This kind of behavior can impact a child’s life forever.
I’m in my feelings. As a 36 year old now, I feel guilty! I loved “them” so much! I grew up perusal all they did and share my old VHS movies with my girls. But I feel guilty because if there wasn’t a market they wouldn’t have been put through so much. I pray they are healthy and happy today and have let go off any and all trauma.
And to think…I always watched Full House as a kid, thinking how nice it would be to have a family like that. A family that was empathetic, patient, and never yelled. But the stuff going on behind the scenes was just as messed up and traumatic as my real-life childhood. I knew something was seriously wrong with the way they were raised…when the twins turned 18 and completely turned their backs on the industry.
He has always given me the creeps regarding the children on his show. The fact he thought it was funny pretending to molest a doll that looked like one of the girls is not okay. Nothing funny about it. or any doll that looked like a child. What a creep! There is more to this person than the eye has seen.
Can you imagine what might or could have happened on set when they were children? I remember being a little girl and my step brother tried to sexually assault me. These two babies were on set with almost no guardian, I shudder to think that some sick person might have done something to them and they are too young to know. Thank god someone was perusal out for them and they now control their money. Some famous kids don’t even get that much without a fight from their parents.

She had a rough time too with her addiction but she seems to be thriving with her family and podcast and she seems to REALLY get it in these interviews talking about the twins, and she’s talked about how she took the jokes Saget made, so it’d be interesting how she coped on her downs and ups! When I was recovering from surgery in hospital as a kid, I watched every Mary Kate and Ashley movie and special and show episode they had. They really helped my recovery and I was so sad as I grew up and watched what happened to them. I feel so much for them for what they went through. These poor girls
Bob discusses me. I believe he has done things to those kids and that is why the twins don’t want any part of the new show. The way the adults talked to them is disgusting! Why would you ask little girls on a talk show questions like that?! Shame on them all! If I was them I wouldn’t want to be in the public either. There is nothing ok with a 23 yr old kissing a 14 yr old even if it was scripted ! This world sickens me.
When that TV interviewer smirked at them and said “When’s the last time you asked for something and didn’t get it” or whatever, it felt like he was trying to infer they were spoiled, which I hated. I wish one of them could have looked dead at him and said “Oh I don’t know, a childhood? Anonymity? Autonomy?” I bet that would shut him right up. “How many hours did you work this week Tom? 40? Oh that’s nice. I remember when I was 7 and only had to pull 40 hour weeks.” Bless those poor lovely women. Truly, God bless them. I had so many of their movies on VHS so I watched them all the time! They were such a major part of my life when I was a pre-teen, it’s so sad to see how exploited they were.
The questions Regis is asking them is very suggestive too 😮 like why would you ask pre teens about dating and men and “what kind of guy they like” 🤮 you can tell they’re uncomfortable from the giggling and side looks. Why are the interviewers shocked that kids get allowances? They do the chores, at it can seem bad at first. Then when you think about it, it probably grounded them.

Imagine the torture these kids went through. As kids, we wanna play. Literally from infants, especially around the tween area, they had no free time. Look at all the movie and commercials they did. Not to mention all the interviews 🤦🏿♂️. They had ZERO free time to be kids. No wonder we thought they were weird. They were a little weird, but at the end of the day, they just wanted to be normal
those interview clips were horrifying. it’s crazy how clearly uncomfortable they were when people asked about their financial situation, or when (as children) adults would ask adult-joke questions about dating (adult!!!!) men, and they went “haha yeah…” because they don’t know what any of it means! they’re CHILDREN.
If I was orally molested at 7 years old by my step dad, there is no telling the abuse these little girls; now women, have endured behind close STUDIO doors at my age. I loved Mary-Kate and Ashley as a child, it makes me so sad to see how they were treated and I’m so happy they were able to step back and live their lives how they want to. Their parents make me sick! As a parent I could never just hand my son of to basically strangers at that age and act like they had no control over what was happening.
It’s interesting that the outrageous behavior portrayed by the most abused stars in Hollywood was shamed, bullied, disrespected and completely ridiculed by labeling as mentally insane and sick when they were abused in so many ways that pushed them to these behaviors… producers and adults that groomed and shoved contents down children’s their throats both literally and figuratively (sorry for the explicitness) like drugs, alcohol and other things I won’t mention, all of which creates major long lasting trauma and imbalances in the mind, body and spirit. I love the Olsen Twins although they were not at their height of popularity when I became a fan of them I still loved reading their books and perusal their articles when I was younger. I was aware of the hardships they went through in Hollywood and always felt sad when enjoying their content. Im glad they are out of the spotlight and pursuing their life goals. When I was a kid, I loved Mary Kate & Ashley. I watched all of their direct-to-video movies, as well as You’re Invited To Mary Kate & Ashley’s parties and The Adventures of Mary Kate & Ashley mysteries. I also read many of the books, owned two different sets of their dolls, and slept on Mary Kate & Ashley bedding. I wanted to be just like them, and it wasn’t until I was a teenager myself that I realized just how messed up their upbringing was. Also, I didn’t realize just how sexualized they were! The whole mess of Bob being inappropriate with a doll meant to symbolize them, Ashley being 14 and kissing a 22 year old (and that 22 year old knowing Ashley was too young for him), Regis hoping they look like Kathie Lee, and Donny teasing them about having their first on-screen kiss were all just gross. I was too young to know what the Countdown was really about back in the day, but it’s disgusting that there were grown men out there looking at two 16 year old girls and thinking they’re hot.
I was very theatrical as a little kid and people thought I was cute and said I looked like Shirley Temple. When I was a teen, envying these famous fellow teens, I went thru a phase where I resented that my mom didn’t put me in movies, my sisters said so too. She explained that she just didn’t feel right about it, that she felt it was dangerous. Now that I’m grown I am so thankful for a mom who was wise enough to not let ambition get in the way of what she felt was safest for me.
That concept of giving them no money, then letting them fal, into being millionaires overnight is so dangerous. If my kids were ever in the industry, I’d have them heavily involved in their finances. They’d get their checks, and hopefully I’d be able to educate them on savings, investments, etc. And an allowance that makes sense for their age. But if they ever wanted something bigger, maybe talk to them about the decision. If it’s really necessary. I mean they’re working..
My best friend was the mom of the boy twins who later joined the show. Wondering if fans (iIhave never been one) thought it was the downfall of the show. I have never heard anyone talk about them. I sat in the waiting room with Karen Tuomy-Wilhoit and told her they would get the job. We looked at celebrity children dolls around the room and thought how weird it would be for them to become dolls. I have those dolls. The Olsen twins attended their parties, they were young, and I wondered how it was affecting them. Part of the machine. Glad Blake and Dylan didn’t get sucked in.
If that kind of “joking around” and those kind of interview questions were appropriate and accepted in front of a live audience and on the screen, I can’t imagine what kinds of things happened to them behind the scenes when there weren’t people perusal. Seriously horrible, those poor girls. There was a lot of terrible stuff that happened after all this too. Eating disorders, drug abuse, etc..they look almost unrecognizable now..I feel like if you sign your young child up for the Hollywood life, you are simultaneously signing them up for a traumatic life.

I grew up around that time and I remember rolling my eyes about how hyped they were. There were shows back them on E Entertainment that were dedicated to show the life and fortune of those teen-child actors/pop stars and their excesive life styles. I was jealous of them, obviously. Now, as an adult, I watch it and it’s horrifying. Those girls weren’t allowed to have a childhood/adolescence and grew up around strangers. And the started when they were freaking babies!! Strange men changed their diapers and then making sexual jokes about them yikes! I wonder what’s Elizabeth opinion of this. She’s kind of like Jamie Lynn: she got the opportunity of growing up with money and doors being oppened thanks to the explotation of her older sisters. I have the feeling that none of the family see something wrong with it. I feel for them.
I was one of the major fans growing up of MaryKate and Ashley, they had a lot to do with my childhood. Had all the movies, saw the entire show of full house, perfumes, clothes, the empire basically lol. I was obsessed. They worked so hard being so young! ♥️ I still tweet them happy birthday 😂 lol and i still am proud of them for how far they have come and they have a fashion brand empire now, powerful women ftw lmao. But it’s sad they weren’t allowed to be with their mom on set. That is not right, at all.
