Why did God allow my marriage to end?
We are with God. God wants to save all marriages, but allows divorce for those whose spouse won’t repent. God is always trying to get our attention so we can learn about His love, grace, forgiveness, and mercy. That never changes.
People often ignore God in marriage. Both must want the marriage to work. Both must invest energy, time, and grace. Even if you and your spouse believe in God, your spouse must choose the marriage over themselves for it to succeed.
There’s always hope for reconciliation as long as both spouses are not married to anyone else. I’ve seen and heard many stories of marriages being saved, so I don’t believe it’s impossible. Even if a couple is divorced, they can get back together if they’re both still single.
Does God want marriages to end?
Jesus’s view on this question is more nuanced in the New Testament. In Matthew, the Pharisees ask Jesus, “Can a man divorce his wife for any reason?” (Matthew 19:3). The Pharisees tried to trap Jesus by asking him to give a simple answer about divorce. But Jesus knows they’re not being sincere. Instead of answering, Jesus quotes Genesis and says: “God joins together, let no one separate.” As the Pharisees kept asking questions, Jesus explained that divorce is not what God wanted. Jesus says, “Moses allowed divorce because of your hard hearts, but it wasn’t God’s original plan. If you divorce and marry someone else, you are committing adultery.” Jesus says God’s standard is that no one should divorce. This is similar to what we see in Matthew 18 when Peter asked about forgiveness. Peter asked, “How many times should I forgive?” But like the Pharisees, Peter wasn’t asking for the answer. He wanted to look good, but Jesus saw right through it. Jesus said God would forgive 77 times. This shows what Jesus expects of us. He doesn’t want a grudge. He doesn’t want us to just check the box. He wants us to pursue him. Pursue him with a pure heart. Don’t just get by. But have a heart that is for Him.

My prodigal husband will come home in the Lord’s beautiful and perfect timing. He has been running from God and playing article games instead of drawing closer to God. Meanwhile he left me here at our apartment and he is living at an air bnb right now. It hurts because I miss him terribly and I am in this valley but God is the One who has been working on my heart and when He makes the mountains move, they’ll move but for right now I am learning so much in this valley time. Sometimes we learn the greatest lessons in the valleys we go through. In God’s timing He will bring my husband back but for now I am enjoying drawing so close to God ❤

I was a a lukewarm Christian. Jesus was not the center of our marriage. Was married for 17yrs. Wife left me and that night had a life changing encounter with Jesus. Gave me many promises. Have had dreams from God and many other wonderful miracles. But, its been 5 yrs apart now and i am very weary. Feel like David in Psalm 13 and i am crying out How much longer? There are days i praise Him for his goodness and sadly there are other days i understand Abram and Sarai taking matters into own hands. Hope deferred makes the heart sick and waiting can be so hard.
Remember that God will have His way. Focus on your relationship with Jesus Christ instead of the heartache from abandonment/ mistreatment from your spouse. God designed marriage and He is the Restorer. Pray that your spouse turns to Jesus Christ because they need Him in order to uphold the marriage the way God ordained it to be upheld. Jesus loves you and your spouse. He is in control and vengeance is His. Let Him fight the battles as you remain still. ❤
My prodigal spouse is with someone and it seems like everything God spoke about me She has it all. I feel like I cannot hold on for the promise of us being together…any longer! I have been enduring pain, praying from the beginning of 2022, and It looks like She is a better fit since She has what he needed at that time, although She is not saved or anything like that, so there’s no covering… Please pray God’s will be done! ❤️ Thank you so much!! God bless you, Adrienne~
My dh had no idea what hit him lol He was never ever ever coming back He tried to hang himself at one point while off whoring-rope broke He tried, another time, slitting his arm veins-knife literally would not slice his skin, over n over I was pg whole time, had baby alone finally as he was in JAIL He had called me just before he landed in jail few days later, he had decided to come back – we lived very far apart as I moved a continent away. Yes, God still works while u get safe. I needed huge support as I was very ill quite suicidal the first months so I got safe for the baby if nothing else. We had another baby two yrs later and I feel that’s why God restored our marriage, ofc for His glory too. “…and I will show u great and marvelous things that you do NOT know” praise Jah!
Dude, look at the outcome of this happening with my marriage… Nada you on the other hand weaponised your ‘loved one’…. Got her to pretend to love me, to fk me over even more… Your plan….not realising she actually loved me. Head butt a mirror if your mad. I closed the door a long time ago knowing it was your silly game. Learn for next time… Or alternatively come right, value your woman not for what she can do for you, for the love you have for her… Just do it! Love her properly.
