  • I belongs to Brahmin Family and i am 36 years old unmarried. Ours is Traditionally family which doesn’t accept Intercaste Marriage. This is one of the reason why i am still bachelor. I Love a Girl who is not Brahmin, and i can’t go against my family and my Heart don’t accept any other girl to marry. We get lots of Intercaste Marriage references in our Vedic History like Jamadagni Maharshi was a Brahmin and Renuka Devi belongs to Kshatriya, Atri Maharshi and Anusuya Devi, Parashara Maharshi and Satyavati, Draupadi and Pandavas these are some Intercaste marriage references i got from Vedic History. I don’t know how many more are there. But when i argue with these references my family people don’t agree with the facts. They say in those are maharshis and they had some Vedic power this that and all which doesn’t smells Logic to me. They just adament about Caste system and nobody cares about my Happiness. But I have decided that there is no place in my life to any other Girl other than the Girl i am in LOVE. I live my whole life Bachelor but i don’t marry any other Girl.

  • Class system and 4 Varnas( Brahmin, chettry, vaishya and Sudras) Hindu sacred texts clearly relate ‘varnas’ to the ‘guna’ i.e., behavior and character, rather than the birth. Meaning Particular attention has to be paid to the fact that this (the varna system) was essentially a class system, in which individuals, when qualified, could change their class, and therefore classes did change their personnel. (Writings and Speeches, Vol. 1, P.18) Manusmriti also does not talk about caste but it talks about Varna, viz. Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaisya, and Shudra. There is no mention of the Varna system according to birth but it advocates the system based on the qualities of a person. If a Shudra possesses qualities of a Brahmin, he could be promoted as a Brahmin but if a Brahmin does not possess the qualities required, then he could be demoted as a Shudra. If the relationship between the Vedas and the four ‘varnas’ are not rigid and birth-based, then the relationship between the Vedas and the evil of untouchability is bound to be non-existent.

Our Religious leaders should completely delete reference of justification of caste system in our scriptures. Hinduism is dynamic religion and we can change based upon time . The story of Eklavya and Karna who was called “SUT PUTRA” in Mahabharata gives opposite impressions. Time for all of us to completely abolish caste system which is actually evil.

  • Please don’t be misguided. Caste system is continuously reinforced in the vedas. Read “Who were the Suddhras?” by Ambedkar. These attempts to sanitize the vedas and “Hindu” heritage are not helpful to remove social ills. I know it feels good to make our heritage out to be pure and perfect but knowing the truth is important to make better decisions on how to move forward as a society. I am a Shuddhra and the rig veda condemns me to be a laborer. I refuse to accept this as divine knowledge. It seems more like a scheme to keep the lower classes oppressed.
