In the episode “The Big Bang Theory,” Leonard and Penny Hofstadter give Sheldon and Amy a baffling wedding gift, which is actually a dumb crystal wand that Howard and Bernadette gifted them for their wedding. At the end of the episode, Raj heads to Leonard and Penny’s and says he intends to get married.
The Big Bang Theory debuted on CBS in 2007 and revolved around the antics of a group of extremely geeky friends, including Sheldon, Leonard, Penny, and Raj. The show kicks off Season 9 with a wedding and a divorce of sorts. As Sheldon gives Leonard and Penny a honeymoon ticket to San Francisco, the idiot says he’s going to throw the card back in their faces.
In the episode, Sheldon is fixated on Penny and Leonard’s claim that the gift is the perfect gift for the perfect couple, but it isn’t a dinosaur fossil or matching pocket watches. The mystery of the gift continues to drive the Hofstadters insane and raises questions about the relationship between Leonard and Penny.

Why wasn’t Leonard’s mother at Sheldon’s wedding?
Big Bang Theory executive producer Steve Holland said Christine Baranski’s schedule made it impossible for her to appear in Beverly. She was shooting The Good Fight in New York, and it was their last two days of production that week. Scheduling conflicts nearly resulted in Laurie Metcalf missing the shoot, too. Holland says she was in a play in New York, but she made it to the Big Bang Theory set to film her scenes. It’s a shame Christine Baranski couldn’t attend Sheldon and Amy’s wedding. At least Laurie Metcalf made the trip to be there for Mary Cooper on her son’s wedding day.

Leonard’s job is just a hobby to him. Amy says maybe she knows what Sheldon needs. Meemaw appreciates her honesty and says she doesn’t like her. Amy says maybe she doesn’t like her. Sheldon admits he has one. Amy asks Penny if she knew. Penny leaves with Leonard because she doesn’t want to answer. Amy learns he’s had it since before they broke up. Meemaw says her ring will never be on this woman’s finger. Sheldon doesn’t want to correct Meemaw. Amy says she might not want to be engaged to Sheldon or have her old hand-me-downs. Sheldon says they’ve only known each other a day and wonders if their periods are on the same cycle. Meemaw tells Sheldon to leave so they can talk. Bernadette and Rajsdilemma met, exchanged phone numbers, and are meeting to discuss her screenplay. That was fine with her. Howard says they were involved. A little flirting never hurt, says Bernadette. But don’t do it, my dear husband. Raj still wonders if Emily is right for him. Leonard and Penny are in her apartment talking about her grandmother. Sheldon (Jim Parsons) hates Christmas and is surprised when Penny (Kaley Cuoco) gives him a Christmas gift. He feels he has to buy her a gift that matches what she gave him. He buys the entire range, intending to find out online which item will match in value to Penny’s gift and refund the rest. Penny gave Sheldon a napkin autographed by Leonard Nimoy. In The Precious Fragmentation, Raj, Howard, and Sheldon each want a Lord of the Rings movie prop ring. The last one holding it gets it. Howard’s mom wants to know where he is. Raj makes trouble for him, messing up Howard’s lies. (I’m glad we came to this strip club!) Howard, here’s more bacon for the shiksas g-string! Then they talk about Sheldon’s mother and grandmother. His grandmother had sex with his mother. This is after Sheldon said “No Meemaw,” meaning she wasn’t to be included. Sheldon says Meemaw made cookies for him and polished her silver. When life gets tough, it’s hard for him to adapt. When his hairdresser got sick, Sheldon was sad. Penny said she used to cut hair and could give Sheldon’s hair a trim. Penny became his official hairstylist. While it was no problem for Penny to help Sheldon, it was another thing that Sheldon demanded of his friends (just like driving him everywhere).

Chakra wands are rods of seven crystals associated with the seven chakras. They balance, cleanse, heal, and charge chakras. They also focus, massage, and protect. Point the sharp end at a chakra location. I like using chakra wands to activate crystal grids. What’s yours?
Why did Penny and Leonard break up in real life?
2009: Kaley Cuoco and Johnny Galecki broke up. The couple split before the holidays in 2009 after dating for almost two years. In The Big Bang Theory: They said their breakup was because they wanted different things. Teaching each other new things was fun, but when we wanted different things, it made things more complicated, Galecki said. We had different interests in what we wanted from life. Cuoco said their relationship just ended. They ran out of things to talk about because they were at work all day and then went back to one of their places together and asked, “How was your day?” Simon was funny today. We laughed because we had no secrets. We were together for a long time. We loved each other and were lucky because our breakup was amicable.
What was the wedding gift Leonard and Penny gave Sheldon?
Leonard and Penny give Sheldon and Amy the perfect wedding gift. It’s a sweet gesture, but the newlyweds don’t know what it is. The gift is a crystal wand, but it has no obvious purpose. Amy wonders if it’s a marital aid. (I’m going to miss this show next year.) It’d be inappropriate to ask Leonard and Penny what the gift is. But Sheldon is the king of inappropriate questions. He should’ve figured it out in minutes. Maybe married life has changed him? Instead, while Amy and Sheldon are in bed, they decide the gift is a clue for their actual gift, which they’ll find by going on a scavenger hunt. The idea for this episode came from the same gift that executive producer Steve Holland received from the show’s visual effects supervisor. The gift we got is the same one in the episode, says Holland. It’s a wand. We didn’t know what it was when we got it. We had it in the writers’ room for years and joked about it. We decided to turn that into an episode where Sheldon and Amy get a wedding gift they don’t know what it is.

The Big Bang Theory 10×01 english version.
with the door open and she’s okay with it. I told you, I’m not okay with it. She loves it. So, we got everybody gifts. Aw. Did you forget about us until you were at the airport? No. We forgot about you until we were on the plane. Luckily, there was Wi-Fi, and I have Amazon Prime. I heart New York. Aw, the baby’s gonna love throwing up on this. Look, it doesn’t have to just be New York. That’s the beauty of it. Uh, the initials “N.Y.” can stand for anything you like. For instance, I understand that there is an elderly rock-and-roll musician named Neil Young. Perhaps you heart him. Or if not him, Egyptian table tennis silver medalist Noha Yossry. Or Nana Yamaguchi, the Japanese voice actress who starred in Sally the Witch. Did you just Google the initials “N.Y.”? I had Wi-Fi and a long plane flight. Draw your own conclusions.
I love this scene. Not only do both families look happy for Leonard and Penny, so do their friends. Leonard’s family finally accepted Penny and Penny’s family is happy she’s with someone secure who truly loves her and will take care of her no matter what. I also love how they cast Katey Sagal as Penny’s mom, Susan, since she was also cast as Kaley’s Cuoco’s character, Bridget Hennessey’s mom, Kate Hennessey, in 8 Simple Rules(for dating my daughter ). Glad that Kaley and Katey are still close after all these years and I love The Big Bang Theory. My favorite show ever.
I’m happy for Leonard and Penny because back then Leonard thought he wouldn’t have a girlfriend and Penny has been dating idiot guys but they’ve dated for years and now they’re officially husband and wife. Go Leonard and Penny, Nerd/Scientist and Cheerleader/Pharmaceutical Sales Rep, make it last for eternity. ☺☺☺
This is the episode that would have shocked the entire cast, the people behind the show and our entire planet. If Melissa Rauch (Bernadette), would have ignored the script and asked “Do you Leonard Hofstadter take Penny Teller for your lawfully wedded wife?” Yes, Penny’s last name was Teller. This was an episode where Penny received a package while Sheldon was there. Penny was holding the box on top of her counter with the front of the box showing her address and her name. The next time you see this episode in a rerun, freeze it and look real close. The box shows the name Penny Teller on it. If there’s a DVD with this episode, you’ll see the box better. 💘
When you think about it it’s kind of weird that Amy and Sheldon, of all couples, are the only ones on to have had a classic wedding. Howard and Bernadette had to get married on short notice and they said they would have their big wedding ceremony as soon as Howard got back from space but they never did. Penny and Leonard got married in Vegas and their second wedding is super small with only 11 guests and what’s funny is that Penny doesn’t even wear a proper wedding dress although she is considered well dressed and fashionable. They didn’t even bother to bring Leonard’s siblings or Penny’s sister and nephew. Strange.
This is not fair at all! Howard and Bernadette and Sheldon and Amy get applause for their weddings from the audience who attends taping and Leonard and Penny don’t?! That is so f**ing unfair! Stupid writers! They made Leonard and Penny elope and then for everyone having to watch through the Internet and Sheldon has to ruin everything! And then, when Leonard and Penny are pronounces husband and wife, the audience only laughs because of Howard and Stuart turning back to face the TV!\r \r The writers also made a rocky start to Leonard and Penny’s marriage because of Mandy Chao! And then Sheldon going on a honeymoon with them and then keeping them living with them for a year! That stinks!\r \r And then at Leonard and Penny’s wedding redo, Sheldon ruins everything again by once again interjecting and a snide comment against Alfred and Mary which makes Beverly amused and then once again, the audience who watches the taping doesn’t give any applause again! This stinks! Go to hell, writers!\r \r I can’t believe they would dare to write Leonard and Penny’s relationship in a poor way! Especially in Season 10 and also Episodes 12, 13 and 14 of that season! Leonard and Penny are supposed to be a happily married couple!\r \r I wish they did one wedding only for Leonard and Penny in which their friends and families can attend! But only if Penny had long hair, because since she got married with her hair still as a short pixie, I was not pleased with that, which is why I was glad that there was a wedding redo!
