What did Whitney do before she died?

Two days before her death on February 9, Houston visited singers Brandy and Monica with Clive Davis during their rehearsals for the music executives party on February 11. Later that day, Houston made her last public performance singing Jesus Loves Me on stage with Kelly Price in Hollywood at a pre-Grammys party.

Both the public and lovers of her music worldwide were devastated by her passing. When news broke of the singers death, it made the front page of newspapers and was widely covered.

Davis, Houstons friend and mentor, still hosted his pre-Grammy party in the Beverly Hilton hotel on the evening of Feb. 11, despite the singers body remaining inside the building until 12:45 a.m. At the start of the event, he shared a tribute to Houston: By now you have all learned of the unspeakably tragic news of our beloved Whitneys passing. I dont have to mask my emotion in front of a room full of so many dear friends.

Why did Whitney’s father sue her?

In 2002, the company owned by Whitneys father sued her for US$100 million in a breach of contract dispute. It claimed he was owed money from a business deal he had helped negotiate.

Business Insider reported that John died unexpectedly a year later and the case was dismissed. Whitney was the sole beneficiary of a US$1 million life insurance policy of her fathers. But his then wife, Barbara, filed a lawsuit against Whitney in 2008. She claimed Whitney had pledged that the insurance money be used to pay off a mortgage Whitney held over her fathers home. Barbara said Whitney lent John money in 1990 and the loan was secured by the mortgage.

NY Daily News reported that Whitney counter-sued Barbara and court documents revealed how she had financially supported him over the years. The songstress paid her father an annual salary of between US$52,000 and US$90,000 from 1991 to 1997. She also lent him US$723,800 to remodel his condo and paid for his cars and trips.

Why did Elton John refuse to sing?

Elton John refused to sing a song requested by Prince Harry on the anniversary of his mothers death. The Duke asked the popstar for a rendition of Candle In the Wind but Sir Elton refused, thinking it would be too macabre, claims the Prince.

In his explosive new memoir, Spare, Prince Harry talks about the interaction with the 75-year-old popstar, who was a very close friend of Princess Dianas. The song was supposed to be performed at a concert for the 10th anniversary of Dianas death, but John chose to sing Your Song instead.

The concert took place at Wembley Stadium in 2007 and featured performances by Duran Duran, Lily Allen, Take That and Sir Rod Stewart.

Who sang with Elton John on Don’t Go Breaking My Heart?

Dont Go Breaking My Heart is a 1976 duet by English musician Elton John and English singer Kiki Dee. It was written by John with Bernie Taupin under the pseudonyms Ann Orson and Carte Blanche, respectively, and intended as an affectionate pastiche of the Motown style, notably the various duets recorded by Marvin Gaye and singers such as Tammi Terrell and Kim Weston. John and Taupin originally intended to record the song with Dusty Springfield, but ultimately withdrew the offer; Springfields partner Sue Cameron later said this was because she was too ill at the time.34.

Unlike many of Johns singles from the 1970s, it was never included on an original album (although it was recorded during the Blue Moves sessions). In the same year, John and Taupin received the 1976 Ivor Novello award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically.5.

In 1994, John released the song as a duet with American drag queen RuPaul. It was produced by Giorgio Moroder and reached number three on the US Billboard Dance Club Songs chart, reached number seven on the UK Singles Chart6 and number one in Iceland.7.

  • I challenge all of you to watch the movie then listen to both Bruce Springsteen’s Streets of Philadelphia and then Neil Young’s Philadelphia, and then tell me if you feel that Bruce really deserved to win the Oscar? Bruce Springsteen is certainly one of my favorite artists of all time. I have everything he has ever recorded and listen to it constantly. But I just really have to say that Neil Young’s song was perfection in every possible way and it really deserved win the Oscar.

  • I’ve never knew much about Bruce but he seems private I cried after perusal this movie again when I watched it as a younger person it didn’t hit me the way it did today, because it was a real story about many people who got AIDS and they knew what was going to happen to them once they had it and it broke my heart, really seems that THE MEDS THEY HAVE THESE DAYS IS HELPING PEOPLE LIVE LONGER AND HEARING BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN SINGING IS WONDERFUL I KNOW TOM HANKS WON THE ACADEMY AWARD BUT DENZEL WASHINGTON WAS AWESOME IN THIS MOVIE A WONDERFUL MOVIE ALL AROUND

  • Original theme riff of the Europe track “The final countdown” should start by f# minor, D, b minor (our polish h) and E … More easy version can be played e-minor | C | a-minor and D … Difference is pretty small … Right now we should start thinking about new instruments and other music tolls plus stuff, less then 35 chords and hard to be “original” …

  • 100% deserved. Music doesnt often move me to the point of tears, but once I found out what this song was about and listened to the lyrics whilst Bruce was singing it on the radio I had tears falling down my cheeks. Such haunting lyrics, of someone who has faced their reality that no one is coming to save them and their end is near.

  • here are a list of songs from a movie made in 1993 that was snubbed and not nominated by the 66th academy awards in 1994: ”will you be there” from ‘free willy’ (they really snubbed micheal jackson that year but at least sister janet was nominated that year for ”again” from ‘poetic justice’) ”marian’ from ‘robin hood: men in tights’ ”big gun” from ‘last action hero’ ”two steps behind” from ‘last action hero’ ”all for love” from ‘the three musketeers’ ”a deeper love” from ‘sister act 2: back in the habit’ (in which whoppi goldberg who hosted the 66th academy awards that year starred in and reprised her role as ‘sister mary clarence’) ”im gonna be (500 miles)” from ‘benny & joon’ and ”weatherman” from groundhog day’ i dont about ”cant help falling in love with you” from ‘sliver’ if that should have been nominated

  • This song just came back to me yesterday and made me cry I listened to it over and over!! And when you here Michael Jackson and especially the ethereal voice of Steve Perry from Journey it real grabs you heart strings! 🥲 Same for Kenny Logins, Lionel Richy, Cindy Lauper, and Bruce Springsteen, etc… This is truly a real masterpiece accomplishment!!! The new USA for Haiti is just as Amazing definitely YouTube it you will not be disappointed! God bless everyone who is perusal and reading this! Amen 😇

  • Came here from the documentary, which is Chefs kiss. My introduction to MJ songs were through different people, growing up. My aunt played it on loop cleaning the house back in the day. Nowadays, I find myself sometimes putting it on loop like my aunt did. It’s so catchy and I love harmonizing with them all. Cyndi Lauper and Stevie are my fave parts. MJs voice is angelic. Bruce’s part is iconic! I shed a tear perusal the Docu because I felt what Diana Ross voiced ie she didn’t want that night to be over. You could see from the documentary that they were just normal people doing what they love and with admiration and respect for each other. MJ came across as so humble (I really wish he’d given an interview during the recording. I miss him so much! 😔) Quincy was a genius. Al was hilarious, I laughed so hard. I loved him. We all know someone like him in a discussion group. Bruce Springsteens (wow he was a stunner in the 80s, huh!) vocals are a touch of Heaven! Stevie, God bless him, an ADHDer like me… Always thinking of how to make things more perfect but the world doesn’t work with our timelines. Harry Belafonte, God bless you for thinking of this concept. Bob Dylan was like, what am I doing here, somebody help lol Ray Charles, iconic. Loved Huey! He looks better than he did when young, crazy. Lionel Richie – hadn’t ever heard him speak! The MJ animal jokes were sending me 😂 and let me tell you something, when that song starts, Lionel’s voice gives me shivers.

  • Just watched the documentary on Netflix. I was 7 when this came out, and remember it well. Quincy is a musical genius, and was able to piece together a masterpiece that we couldn’t see up front. I like how Lionel held everyone together, but I wish Prince would have showed up. I remember most of these celebrities from back in the day, and I’m so grateful to have grown up in an era with so much real musical talent. One thing I know for sure is that Micheal would have been ok with being there to record no matter how long it took, due to him being a perfectionist. Rip to those who transitioned. This was a beautiful thing for American artists to gift to the world ❤
