Who Is Jonathan Pitts Engaged To?

Jonathan Pitts, an author, speaker, and executive pastor at Church of the City in Franklin, Tennessee, is the father of four daughters and is engaged to his fiancé, Peta. He hosts the The Journey with Jonathan Pitts podcast and recently released his best-selling memoir, My Wynter Season:…By Helen Bond. In this episode, Jonathan interviews his wife, Wynter, who was close to finishing a book about marriage when he suddenly found himself a widower with four grieving children.

Jonathan has co-authored two books with his late wife, Wynter Pitts, and is the President and co-founder of For Girls Like You Ministries, an equipping and resourcing ministry for tween girls and their parents. Wynter, the niece of influential pastor Tony Evans, was a successful author, speaker, and entrepreneur who founded For Girls Like You, a ministry that equips girls to walk boldly into who God has created them to be and to resource their parents to raise them.

In 2018, Wynter passed away after 15 years of marriage, and Jonathan and Wynter’s journey together was beyond what he could have ever imagined. Jonathan is now married to his best friend, Peta Sergeant, and continues to see his little love, Olivia, grow and thrive.

In this episode, Jonathan shares his experiences as a widower, his love for his wife, and his journey as a step-mom. He also discusses his experiences as a pastor, author, speaker, and executive pastor at Church of the City.

Is Alena Pitts related to Priscilla Shirer?

Alena Pitts: It was a kind of a God thing. Priscilla Shirer is my cousin. She’s like another mom to me. She’s basically my mom’s sister. She got the chance to act in the movie War Room. Everyone was like, wow. Then she said they were looking for a little girl. Alena, want to audition? I said, “I’ll try.” I’d never acted before, but I wanted to. I realized I liked acting. Dr. James Dobson: You did great. People were talking about you. Did you expect to be in a big movie? Alena Pitts: Yes. It was surprising. I wouldn’t have got that part without God.

  • I stand in prayer for your family Jonathan Pitts. I purchased a copy of Emptied, still reading. I thank you and Wynter for sharing the truth about marriage and struggles without sugar coating. It saddened my heart with her passing. Through prayer and hearing your testimony also on other outlets, I was encouraged that her life legacy would continue for her girls.

  • Pastor Jonathan, thank you for sharing with us. I sincerely appreciate your encouragement. I’ve never read that verse until now: Acts 13:36; thank you again! I’m grateful to The Lord for His continued love, grace, and strength He’s encompassing you all with. I will continue to pray for you and your family. God Bless you all In Jesus’ Name❤️

  • I lost my husband to cancer in 2019. He had a son and having a blended family was one of the hardest challenges in our marriage. Thankful to have found a Christian grief counsellor in my local community. It’s important to talk about your loss and pain for healing. Thank you Focus on the Family for having shows on widowhood.

  • I lost my husband Jess last year to Covid, we had been happily married 26 years with 6 daughters and 10 grandkids. The Lord gave me a dream 2 years before that reassured me this was his plan, I didn’t know that’s what that dream meant till a few days after he passed, then I finally understood the dream, it gave me peace. I am grateful for my time, though I don’t understand, I feel the Lord was with us the whole time. The Lord has brought a godly man into my life. We miss Jess more then words can say. I understand this episode completly.

  • Please don’t compare the loss of your mother to his loss of his wife. It is not the same and never will be. My husband Jeff died at 34 years old, in May 2022. He took his life. My brain isn’t ready for some of what was shared. I have roughly 4 people in my life currently, 2 that are consistent. That’s it. I’m so alone and going through the motions. I am asking for prayer for my next husband. I don’t want or feel as though I’m meant to be alone.
