Thirty-nine House Republicans joined all Democrats in supporting the Respect for Marriage Act, a bill that would protect same-sex and interracial marriages in the United States. The Senate passed the bill in a bipartisan vote on November 29, after including a bipartisan vote. The 36 Republicans who voted against the bill include Senators John Barrasso, Marsha Blackburn, John Boozman, Mike Braun, Bill Cassidy, and John Cornyn. The Respect for Marriage Act was signed into law by President Joe Biden on December 13, 2022, repealing DOMA. The measure mandates federal recognition for same-sex and interracial marriages and overturns the Defense of Marriage Act. The bill would repeal the Defense of Marriage Act of 1996, enshrined in the Defense of Marriage Act. However, more than seven out of 10 Republican senators voted against the bill, underscoring how the party has continued to cater to religious conservatives who oppose same-sex marriage long after the 1996 vote.

Why did doma cry?
After Akazas death, Doma says that he felt as if the Upper Rank had turned into a different creature before he died, and that his demise is inevitable because he never ate any women. Doma begins to cry over his best friends death, but Kanao just tells him to stop with the lies. She explains that she knows that every word that comes out of his mouth is nothing but random babble, and that its impossible for him to be genuinely sad over Akaza because he cant feel anything at all. She says that every person born into the world has feelings, but Doma cannot understand these feelings and covers this up by spitting lies. He has never felt happiness, joy, pain and bitterness, and she says that he is nothing but an empty shell, and asks Doma why he is even born. Domas face turns serious, and asks how Kanao can say something so cruel, to which the young Demon Slayer responds that she simply hates the Demon and wants to send him to hell this instant.19.
Suddenly, Doma appears behind Kanao, attempting to use one of his fans to cut her head off, but she quickly dodges and delivers a blow to his stomach, causing some of his organs to fall out. He doesnt seem to feel her blow, simply sending some of his ice lotuses at her and noting that her reaction speed has risen as shes able to adapt to his attacks. As he regenerates his body, he thinks to himself that Kanao could actually be stronger than Shinobu, a Hashira.20.
Trying to suppress her rage, Kanao attacks Doma with Flower Breathing, Fifth Form: Peonies of Futility, which he avoids with ease, smiling and commenting on how pretty her attack is before sending his Blood Demon Art: Barren Hanging Garden at her, which she barely fends off with Flower Breathing, Second Form: Honorable Shadow Plum. Doma notices that the main reason as to why she is able to counter and dodge his attacks is because of her immensely keen eyesight. Kanao herself is able to easily predict and guess his every move due to taking note of the subtle movements of his shoulders, gaze, toes, elbows and knees to predict what hell do next and from their react and counter whatever attack he uses.Having figured out the reason to her reflexes and reactions,Doma decides that the best course of action to defeat her would be to simply take her eyes out with a swing of his fans. However Kanao successfully dodges his attack, and charges at him with Flower Breathing, Sixth Form: Whirling Peach which is nullified by Domas next Blood Demon Art: Freezing Clouds. The Upper Rank sends two more attacks, Blood Demon Art: Lotus Vines and Cold White Princesses, her way, which she only just avoids before his Wintry Icicles begin to rain on her from above.21.

However, this changed when she discovered his true identity as a demon, and how manipulative he was by eating his worshipers. Is Doma a sociopath?
Ever since his birth, Doma was hailed as a supernatural presence by his parents and his followers in the Eternal Paradise cult dedicated to him, since Doma was born with a pair of polychromatic eyes. However, Doma was born to be a sociopath who showed or felt no emotions, and he only saw his followers as foolish and pitiful worms begging him for mercy.
When Doma was a boy, his mother killed his father after finding out he had been cheating on her, before she took her own life. However, Doma remained unfazed by the deaths of his own parents.
When he was twenty years old, Doma met Muzan Kibutsuji, who granted him power and turned him into a demon. Soon, Doma began eating people, especially females, under the name of absolution. He single-mindedly believed that those he devoured will live forever with him. He continued to serve as the leader of the Eternal Paradise cult as its leader, of which he kept no more than 250 members to avoid being discovered.
Is doma good or evil?
- What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?. He has moral agency issues. While his tragedy is no excuse for his actions, because of his parents treatment of him, treating him like a god and starting a cult solely dedicated to him, Doma is too delusional to have a proper moral agency, as he believes that he is genuinely saving the women he eats. Kanae Kocho even expresses pity for him due to him being so broken inside his head. However, this is a minor prevention, as Doma is aware he is abnormal and exhibits a sufficiently sadistic and manipulative nature.
- Although he is extremely vile, misanthropic, and heinous in a psychopathic way, he seems to have admired the concept of feelings he never felt before and he monopolized that human emotions at the moment of his death were nothing more than a fantasy of another world to him, but afterward, he realized that he had genuine feelings because of Shinobu in the afterlife, falling in love with her as displayed by him calling her cute. Realizing it, Doma felt the feeling of ecstasy for the first time in his life. However, even after meeting Shinobu in the afterlife, Doma stays evil even after understanding his feelings and he shows no reflection or regrets about his actions, and it should not be forgotten that he is the one who killed her so this is a very weak prevention.
- Trivia. Ironically, he is similar to Shinobu, in the senses that both are considered Near the edge of their respective morality, in that Shinobu, despite her massive heroism, is near pure good because of her ruthlessness and lethality, and Doma, despite his cruelty, is near pure evil because of moral agency issues and because he fell in love with Shinobu.
