Why Isnt The Ancient Magus Bride A Direct Translation?

The Ancient Magus’ Bride manga, written and illustrated by Kore Yamazaki, is set to return with a new arc and simultaneous English release. The manga is being translated using AI technology, Mantra Engine, which claims to include “proofreading by professional translators” following the machine translation process. Manga and anime fans have been hoping for a reprieve from personally motivated erroneous translations and censorship, but at the end of the day, there’s still at least one human with editorial control.

The manga has been praised for its good conversion of a manga to an anime that lent itself well to the fantasy/supernatural genre. However, localizers are upset over the news of the series getting a simultaneous English AI translation. The publisher Bushiroad has collaborated with AI translation service Mantra, which specializes in manga-translations, to make this possible.

The translation of the manga is pretty stiff, with some wackwardly phrased bits of dialogue appearing a handful of times. Localizers have been upset over the use of AI translation for the series, as it seems to be a more dire example of how bad this can be.

In terms of the direct audio translation from Japanese to English, it is good, with some minor translation errors here and there but its audio taking from the original Japanese text. Overall, the Ancient Magus’ Bride manga is a solid B- from me, but it is not perfect but keeps the anime going nicely.

This reveals that she has a strong sense of loyalty to Elias, even after shes faced with what Renfred tells her about Elias, learns of his past from Lindel, or even sees his true form. She grows to be attached to Elias, feeling a sense of comfort and security. However, Chise and Elias are not always on the same page. There are several times that they would get into arguments, even to the point where it get physical. The most extreme example was when Elias attempted to use Stella, Chises recent best friend, as a sacrifice in hoping to remove Chises Dragon Curse, which disgusted her that she punched Elias and ran away. Although their relationship did get better during their time in the College. He agrees with Chise that they need to stop the perpetrator from hurting more students. Chise was surprised because she thought he would stop her for being too reckless. Friends. Lindel. Lindel appears to Chise on a dragon and takes her away from Elias. He says he hasn’t changed. He also helps her finish her wand. When Chise is cursed by the dragon, Lindel speaks with her, offering his condolences and concern. Chise says Lindel had nothing to do with her choice.

He wished she would wake up, but she didn’t. He cries and asks Chise to wake up. She wakes up and smiles at him. Joseph shows up, and Chise gets mad when he says he wants to turn Ulysse into a Chimera. She uses magic to attack Joseph. Ulysse asks Chise to take him with her. They bond magically and Chise gives him his new name, Ruth. Now as Chise’s familiar, Ruth finds strength and can destroy the Isabelle-Chimera. He then says goodbye to her.
