Why did Alexis not end up with Ted?

How many times did David ask Stevie for a towel in episode 1?
Stevie Budd : Is that a question? David Rose : I have asked you thrice now for a towel, so that I may wash this town off my body.
Stevie Budd : I dont see a reservation under that name.
Roland Schitt : Uh, its okay, Stevie. I set aside two rooms for them.
Roland Schitt : Well, okay, just book em in with two rooms. These people own the town, theyre big deals.
Who is Alexis Rose based on?
Alexis Rose became a favorite character of the audience thanks to the people who inspired her. Alexis’s quirks were inspired by celebrities like Goldie Hawn, the Olsen twins, Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, and the Kardashians. Goldie Hawn was the only reference listed for the role, but Murphy used it as a starting point to create other elements, like Annie Murphy’s hand gesture for Alexis. As she stole from more modern It Girls, the Alexis Rose audiences fell in love with. Murphy said in an interview that Goldie Hawn’s energy helped make Alexis more than just a ditzy socialite. She watched clips of the Olsens, Lohan, Hilton, and the Kardashians to learn their style. The way they spoke was the thing she copied for Alexis. It was lazy and airy, with lots of upspeak. She also noticed how they carried their handbags, which Murphy changed to make Alexis’s wrists look limp. Schitts Creek ended after season 6, but its characters’ entertaining idiosyncrasies have stayed in the cultural zeitgeist. While Alexis Rose was inspired by real-life celebrities, Murphy and the rest of the cast made her characters unique. Schitts Creek may have copied Alexis’s voice and wrists from the Kardashians, but her heart and spirit belong to Annie Murphy.
Why didn’t David end up with Stevie?
At the end of the day, David would potentially be able to create a healthy relationship with either Stevie or Patrick, but its Patrick whose goals and ideas for the future best line up with his – and if David had ended up with Stevie, they would have likely moved to New York, which wouldnt be good for David.
Although it seemed, briefly, like the husbands would move to NYC together, Patricks words about being uncertain, and his choice to buy Davids dream home, convinced him to stay put. This is the best possible choice for David, who was moving back to NYC for all the wrong reasons, and who would have likely become miserable there again. Stevie probably would have moved, though, as she wants to travel – good thing she can travel alone, and David and Patrick can make their happy home in Schitts Creek!

Why does Mutt leave Schitt’s Creek?
Mutts departure as a regular cast member following Schitts Creek season 2 is due to the fact that Rozon landed a starring role on Wynonna Earp. There simply wasnt time for Rozon to appear on both shows.
Tim Rozon played Mutt Schitt in Schitts Creek, but he disappeared following season 2. So what happened to Alexis former love interest?
What happened to Mutt Schitt in Schitts Creek? The character, played by Tim Rozon, was a recurring figure in Schitts Creekseason 1 and season 2. Rozon guest-starred in two episodes later on in the Canadian series, but many fans have wondered why Matt disappeared after the start of season 3.

Why was Tim Rozon written off Schitt’s Creek?
Tim Rozon grew a beard and left Schitts Creek after two seasons to star in Wynonna Earp. He returned for a wrap-up to his character’s early romance with Alexis in season four. But Mutt is also the son of Roland and Jocelyn Schitt, who played major roles in the series. Having him disappear from their lives still feels like a loose end, especially after the Schitts had a new baby. If Mutt came back, it would be fun. Or maybe Twyla can name a smoothie after him at her café. They were dating when the show started. The performances on Schitts Creek were great, from the Jazzagals to the Cabaret production in season five. The latter let Stevie show off her star power in a fun way. Since she and Patrick stayed in town, we can guess that community theater is doing well.

Meanwhile, the family thinks she’s pregnant. That’s a happy face, so I’m assuming it’s a positive result. That’s presumptuous.

This is one of those moments I empathized with David’s character even more-and why he became one of my favorite characters on this show (other than Alexis hehe). The fact that David is acclimated to that type of rejection and nastiness from others (people “dropping like flies” when he “couldn’t pick up the tab at the Waverly”, Sebastien Raine, his “friends” who went to a music festival instead of David’s wedding) really showed me how emotionally broken he was-whether if it was making friends or having a loving relationship. Because he was so emotionally broken, I could see why Moira “protected” him more than Alexis. He’s her firstborn, was bullied in school (likely due to his sexuality and maybe even his sense of fashion/style), AND he went through a string of heartbreak and lack of real friends surrounding him. I just really love the fact that Stevie-another person who seems to have had a string of bad luck with life and likely people-connected SO WELL with David from season 1. In her sardonic way, Stevie knew that David was stuck in a situation that he couldn’t get out of. Being that she herself was also stuck in a situation that she never thought she could get out of, she shows David, overtime, that there is always a silver lining in everything. Even awkward moments. From their first interaction of David asking for a towel, to Stevie bringing that moment back full circle with embroidered towels for him and Patricks’ wedding (this may have been a sign of foreshadowing in regards to this scene, or Patrick may have even told Stevie about this house-but those are just my hunches), I really appreciate this show for showing that good folks (Patricks AND Stevies!
What I love about this scene so much is that it ties into how David felt since Season 1, when he couldn’t find anyone to move in with him the first go they had with leaving SC, and all the references he’s made along the way about feeling lonely. Now he’s sitting at the summit of a mountain and he’s staring at his future in the face. A lovely full circle moment for him! Love it!
We finally get to see the real David under his snarky bravado, the pain over the rejection by those who he wants in his life, his sense that he has to prove that he’s not a joke… I can relate so much to that. I have wanted so badly to convince myself as well as others that I’m good enough. And his friendship with Stevie, she is spot-on in her insight. David has not met enough good people, and that Stevie has stayed right by him is proof that she cares where his rich “friends” could hardly care less about his feelings. And I totally relate to “And on a personal note, I don’t want you to leave me here!”
A beautiful scene that was well-acted and written. Poignant, sentimental and just a right tough of humor at the end. Also, the reference to the cottage in The Holiday was brilliant as I love that cottage myself. The difference is that cottage was fake as they built the exterior just for the movie. In Schitt’s Creek, they managed to find a real-life version of it. That is incredible.
My absolute favourite scene of the whole series. It’s a masterpiece, the acting is brilliant, Stevie’s double take when she see’s David is emotional, his “who does that?” line breaks me every time. Then the way the scene end brilliantly and the mood is lightened with the comedic “did you put on deodorant?” Absolutely perfect! Whoever wrote that scene deserves an award!
I just finished this show an hour ago (powered through the last four episodes on a cozy Sunday afternoon) and I had to rewatch this scene bc it made me cry my eyes out. I relate to David on many levels, and I’ve been through a lot of heartbreak, but like him, I’ve also had exceedingly kind people in my life do things for me out of sheer goodness, and it never fails to blow me away. It inspires me to be just as kind. I also feel like I want to prove that I am not a joke, that I’m not my mother’s daughter (not David-related but still) and that I also won and am standing on my own two feet all on my own. And I wouldn’t have been able to get here without having an incredible support system in my life that I wouldn’t trade for anything. So we did it, David. We won. And we deserve it.
I can’t believe how incredible the writing is. From what seemed to me like just an average sitcom on the first episode to how much different and really heart touching it became by the final season, its unbelievable. Even though I didnt like Stevie’s character much initially, but the final two seasons elevated her role just like others.
David HAD to buy this house for Patrick. Patrick always seemed like the one who gave up and did everything for David, and David needed to give up New York for Patrick….at least in the beginning of their marriage…..they can move to New York in the spinoff where Alexis and Ted get married….no idea on what happens to Stevie…
Listen I know this is supposed to be a heart to heart and David coming to terms with how crappy his “friends” are. But honestly, if I had been planning and saving to go to Norway for who knows how long and a friend called me and invited me to their wedding a couple months away that’s happening at the same time, I doubt I’d make it to the wedding either. Just being real.

Great episode! I love how Patrick handled the Happy Ending because technically, he blundered and knows it. My two favorite scenes regarding the Happy Ending are 1) David’s “sharing” with Stevie how amazing it was without Patrick catching on and 2) not only how David put it in his wedding vows, but Patrick’s snicker at the inside joke during the ceremony was perfect!!!!
wish with it being the show finale they should of done an hour goodbye.. felt kinda rushed.. dissapointed they weren’t more grateful to the town that opened there arms and put up with their snobbyness and always talk of the dreaded town.. now saying that, I did cry alot during the last episode lol.. the ending I would of liked would be the town persons, our favorites, are lined up on the side of the road by the Schitts creek sign to really say goodbye n they get out and hug n cry and the Rose’s say some real heartfelt things to them but it appears that the relationships between the towns persons to the Rose’s was more valid to them than vice versa.. Roland should of got a huge, lift ya off the ground hug from Johnny.. he helped them so much..and was just being real.. n not fake like their former rich friends.. I wish they would of had a draw or something for a fan or two to attend the final taping of the wedding!! would of been awesome! I would of went.. here’s hoping a major studio will pick up where they left off n have a 3 part show, David n Patrick in Schitts creek with Stevie n gang, Moira in California n Johnny n Alexa in NY.. continuing their character growth.. heres hoping 🧡 fellow Canadian!! stay safe people… P.S. I watched the finale twice in a row. lol
Nah I’m sorry but if my significant other just let the masseuse give them a “happy ending” I’d call the wedding off. To me, it’s cheating. On the WEDDING DAY. David could have easily said no, and if the masseuse said it’s what Patrick paid for, I’d say that doesn’t sound like Patrick at all and that no, that kind of action is absolutely inappropriate and damaging to the relationship. I’m glad David and Patrick sorted it out well, but for me I’d be pissed.
Your sex life not defining loyalty is the definition of having an open relationship. David and Patrick did not have an open relationship. David offered Patrick seeing other men but Patrick refused. They even backed out of hooking up with Jake. Some people, myself included, saw David accepting a happy ending as cheating. And it being on his wedding day made it worse. I agree with Noah, I have no idea how I would have handled that if my future husband did that. The scene was pointless because David is not in a celibate relationship. It put a stain on the finale for me. I admire Daniel Levy greatly but he missed the Mark on this one. But still think Schitt’s Creek is one of the best TV shows to ever be on TV and I will miss it.
